Tribute Slideshow 10th Anniversary of 9/11

Screen Shot 2011-09-27 at 8.49.46 PM

Local 4684 President Anthony Pompa made this slideshow as a tribute to everyone that lost their lives on 9/11. Although the FDNY and NYPD are specifically shown, please know this was meant to honor everyone involved, and those that continue to suffer. The pictures were taken between 9/9/11-9/11/11 by himself and two other members of the East Dundee Fire Department. They were honored to have been able to stand alongside the FDNY, as well as so many great firefighters/military/police/SRT members during the Firefighter’s Memorial service.

IAFF Introduces New Online Pension Module

With public pensions under attack, it is more important than ever to get involved in the oversight and monitoring of your pension system.

The  IAFF has developed a new online learning module — Understanding Public Pensions — to help IAFF members understand how public pensions operate, learn some of the pitfalls and know the questions that are important to ask pension board members, trustees, plan administrators and other stakeholders.

As fire fighter and other public employees’ pensions continue to come under attack by politicians and the media who repeatedly characterize your retirement benefits as “overly generous” and a “burden on taxpayers,” it is vital that, as a labor leader, you are knowledgeable about public pension systems and how they operate.

Click here to begin the Understanding Public Pensions module.

This is the second in a series of pension modules, and is designed for affiliate leaders. Introduction to Public Pensions — the first in the series — provides a basic understanding of public pensions. This module was developed to provide members with essential information on public pensions.
